Maura's Birthday

For my friend Maura's 19th birthday last year, I made her a silly card... I used cardstock (using an exacto knife to cut out the star detailing), a silver sharpie, and acrylic paint for the front effect.

Well, it's been awhile since I updated anything on here, and though I have been doing a lot of art, unfortunately I've forgotten to take pictures of a lot of the art I've done... So anyway, there are a few posts coming up that are just a random assortments of art from the past year or so.

These are some some quick sketches that I used for Mother's Day Cards. I enjoyed working with new material, and just used reference photos that I found on Google.

New Art/Computer Toy...

This is a new toy I've bought myself as an early Christmas present. I've only used it for a total of about 2 hours so far, but I'm already absolutely in love with it. You can find more info on it here.

I would suggest watching this little clip in 480p (changed by click the little number to the right of the time slider thing). Looks nicer, especially if you're watching it full screen.

Rainbow cake version 2.0 & Introduction of minicakes

On Friday, I went to a Thanksgiving dinner with friends from school. I volunteered to bring a cake as a contribution to our dinner, and that is indeed what I brought. My first foray into using fondant with cake went exceptionally well, in my opinion. Not only did the cake look pretty nice on the outside, it had a special surprise on the inside..

The next day, my friend and I got together to make some minicakes. I had the idea awhile ago, while considering making a rainbow cake again, but realizing that a full rainbow cake is a LOT for a few people to eat... This is the alternative I thought up of.

2 commissioned drawings of family pets. This was my first time drawing an sort of animal in a realistic style. I quite like them.

Unfortunately, my camera is out of commission right now, so both of these pictures were taken by my built-in camera on my (new) Macbook Pro. Hopefully will have a camera soon so I can get better quality shots of my art!

Below it states "Barcers vill" (Barkersville) and shows a picture of the "Baber" (perhaps Barber?). There is also a "Find the Face" puzzle, as I was extremely into Where's Waldo and Eye Spy at this point.
And yes, there is a picture in the middle, as well.

Easter eggs done in a whole new way. Started from scratch, even ate the eggs for breakfast. Boxes are made out of poster-board that I used for a grade 6 class project.

But the best part is there's actually a message inside the egg... You just gotta break it to find out what it says.

Wow. I haven't been doing much art lately. And I haven't posted in a LONG time. Merry Christmas, Happy 2010! Yay I'm 18! Happy Valentines Day... And anything else I may have missed. I'm going to make an effort to get back on the creativity train. Wish me luck.

This painting isn't done yet, although I like it already. I'm only posting pictures of it unfinished because I know if I don't promise y'all that I'll finish it, I won't.

This week, at the Place (my church) I provided the artwork for Andy's sermon on Guidance. It was my first time providing art work for The Place, and I certainly hope it was not my last. Along with this painting, I also brought in a 1-story tall House of Cards. I enjoyed sharing my work very very much.

Just Desserts

This Tuesday at Lambrick Park Church there is an event going on at Lambrick Park Church called Just Desserts.
It's a night to enjoy some specialty coffee, have some tasty treats, look at some art, but mainly to raise funds and awareness about Street Cafe. You should come out!

There are some artists from The Place who are contributing some art to help set mood, and also to be sold, with all money raised being donated to the Street Cafe. I am one of the artists participating in this event, and let me tell you, I am scared out of my mind. I have never done something like this, and my stomach is churning just thinking about it. Today was the final day for submissions, and after much debate, I chose 3 pieces of my work. I was originally planning to do 1 or 2 paintings and a drawing, but, with my hand out of commission, that hasn't been possible. Belowe are the 3 paintings I have chosen to go on display.

Well the last few days I've been having to work on paintings with my left hand, since my right hand has been completely out of commission. That said, I must admit, I'm not pleased with this painting. At all. But, I am sharing all art I do I this site, so here is goes.

June 16th - I'm in pain

Tonight I have so far completed 1 painting and started another 2 pieces... Which I am pretty proud of, considering I have very little use of my right (aka drawing) hand.

These pieces may be used in a fundraiser coming up, called Just Desserts. This is a night to raise funds for The Street Cafe, run out of the Mustard Seed.

The titles are just working titles, and are not the final decision, but, the first one is the finished painting, and the second pic is a preview of whats to come...

This is the drawing that started it. Grade 8 art class, our project was to draw someone important to us. I chose to draw my little sister, TPro. The picture is from SeaWorld, in 2000. After this drawing, I decided that maybe I should try drawing things more often.
